Joseph Matte is an associate attorney at Burdge & Wells. He joined the firm in December 2024. Originally hailing from Louisiana, he is the son of a refinery worker and small-town banker. He is a proud LSU Tiger, Louisiana born and raised. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Batchelor of Art, Minors in German and Biology. He received his Juris Doctor from University of Toledo College of Law and is admitted to practice law in Ohio and the Northern District of Indiana. He looks forward to putting down roots in his new home with his fiancé, Nastya.

He began his legal career by serving as a paralegal for a nationally renowned public sector labor law firm for several years. He worked to ensure the rights of Department of Justice employees were upheld under Federal Laws and under collective bargaining agreements. He is the newest addition to the firm, and looks forward to using his skills learned in his previous line of work to best serve his clients. 

He is an Eagle Scout, avid enjoyer of nature, lover of animals, and loves to cook. He enjoys his work protecting the rights of the everyman and ensuring the law is followed no matter how large the defendant.
